What is RoHS Compliance? RoHS refers to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances. The European Union (EU) instituted RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC banned six substances from being used in the manufacturing process. The goal of this directive is to protect the environment and reduce exposure related health risks.
RoHS requires that Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Hexacalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenysis, and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers no longer be used in manufacturing, as their use in production is dangerous human health, as is the eventual disposal of these products can be damaging to the environment.
